28 - 29 March 2023 - Biograd

The skies may be blue, but it’s been blowing a gale each afternoon, and it’s bitterly cold. When I got up at 7.00, the last two mornings, it was around 12C inside the boat. Good thing we have very warm duvets for the night and we can warm the boat up with the heating system on, during the day. The bonus of the cold weather is that there are no insects to bother us. We cooked dinner onboard for the first time this trip; local sea bass. Although it’s farmed, it was delicious. The wild asparagus frittata, that we cooked for lunch was very tasty too, with an even milder flavour than the asparagus we get in the UK. The boat prep continues at a nice steady pace. Yesterday, we managed to blow the electrics, having run the generator, to check that was working properly and then, after powering that down and plugging back into the electricity supply, we lost all power. Steve found the trip switch and we were back up and running again, a great relief, as we really need the heating at the mome

24 - 27 March 2023 - Amersham / Zagreb / Biograd

Our Spring / Summer adventures started when the alarm went off at 04:20 on 24th March. The flight to Zagreb was completely full, the passengers including Welsh football supporters going to watch their team play Croatia in the Euro qualifiers, and a Para-Olympic Boccia team going to play-offs for next year’s Olympics. We had a superb 22 hours with our friends Stevo and Jasna in Zagreb, during which we managed to walk around the centre of the city. There are lots of late 19th century buildings, making it very attractive, along with the outside cafes and restaurants of European cafĂ© society. The centre being largely pedestrianised and serviced by trams just adds to it’s appeal.
