4 - 5 April 2023 - Biograd

We spent our last couple of days in Biograd hoping that the new electric motor for one our winches would arrive from Denmark, but regrettably it was not in time to be fitted before we have to go.  We will return after Easter for this and a couple of other outstanding jobs to be finished off.  Fortunately, we have everything done so that the boat is perfectly usable, certainly for a week or two.  We did spend a good amount of time reviewing the task lists for the winter and general usage to make sure that we had not forgotten anything.

We were delighted that our Croatian friends Stevo and Jasna were in Biograd on Tuesday.  They very kindly took us to the out of town supermarket to stock up on even more of the heavy essentials that we will need during the period we are on the boat. You can not always rely on small towns and villages to be able to supply bulk items, so we now feel well stocked.

On Wednesday morning, S & J took us to a local vineyard where we were able to sample the produce. Wine making in this area has a very long history.  The folks were labelling and packing bottles as we tasted, and this looked like  a very laborious process.  Some wine was duly bought, and collected from their "bonded warehouse".  We could have had quite a good party in there.

Later, we topped up the essential supplies of fresh bread, fruit and vegetables.  However, we made the schoolboy error of forgetting that the butchers all close at midday.  We were back in the shop selling wine from the barrel, and the kind lady there pointed us to the one butcher who was still open at 12:15. (You may get the impression that we spend all of our time buying wine but this not quite the case.)
