17 - 18 June 2023 - Bari

Tricia was feeling a bit better today, but still not 100%. However, the preparations for our departure have to continue, and so we set too with more of the chores. By mid afternoon we had done all that we could, the remaining tasks, like emptying the water tanks, can only be done on the last day, when we know that we will not be living on the boat any more. We headed into Bari, to allow a retracing of our steps last year, and then to meet our Australian friends for a meal in the evening. The food was fabulous and the price very reasonable for the quality of what we had.  The starters were so large that neither of us managed to finish the main course.  Our plans for gelato on the way back to the boat were dropped, as we were too full.

Typical back street. Flowers on some balconies, washing on others (in the shadow)

They know how to park well here, we wish that some folks at home could learn to use the space this well.

Sunday, the wind dropped, the sky was blue and a light breeze cooled the late afternoon temperature, so a perfect time to walk along the sea front and relax, after preparing for the boat lift tomorrow.

Loads of locals were walking along the promenade, returning from the beach or relaxing with an early evening drink.

Seems typical, tiny 3 wheel truck selling everything

Slightly inland, our restaurant for supper had been so busy and the lunchtime eaters had stayed so long, that they were rushing to set up for evening service. By 8.30, the place was buzzing, with large tables of groups of friends or families, from all generations; babes in arms to grandparents. There was a cacophony of happy chatter.

The Maitre D', who we guessed was the owner, was an actor, who commanded attention from his guests, to savour his daily catch and make their choices. Their specialty is fish, of course. The food was good, the theatre very entertaining.

Returning along the seafront, allowed us to see even greater numbers of people, enjoying the cool of night, many eating take away pizza, with groups of friends.
