10 April 2023 - Milna
As we didn’t need to rush to depart today, a walk across to the south side of this island of Klement was on the cards.
A short
distance of footpath brings you to the beautiful bay of Uvala Vinogradisce.
This appears to be another very upmarket spot. The first restaurant you come
to, over looking the sandy beach, Zori, looks posh. There are several other
eateries that aren’t open yet. It’s a rare sight to see that the mooring buoys
have already been laid. The bay is stunning. On this lee side of the island, sheltered
from the wind, it was warm. A further walk towards the island’s main town, took
us through areas of pine trees, with their lovely smell.
It was an
upwind sail back across to Brac, which means the boat is healed over and
crashes through the waves. We made a steady 7-8 knots in the force 4 wind, with
Chris in his element on the helm. The wind was also blowing hard, when we
arrived in the bay of Milna, despite it being known as the most sheltered bay
in Brac. We picked to go to Marina Vlaska, on the north side of the bay, but a
little outside of the town and the inner harbour. We could make an easier, bum
into the wind parking manoeuvre.
After a walk
right round the bay to the opposite side, we could enjoy drinks on deck as the
sun set, even if I was wrapped in a blanket. There was very little open in the
town, and, it being a public holiday, it was very quiet. There is a new harbour
wall being built on the north side, which looks long enough to give mooring for
another 100 boats. The marine industry continues to grow at a pace in Croatia.
We are just delighted that we have come to the first marina in the country that
charges a reasonable price.
