3 April 2023 - Biograd

And so the forecast storm did start during the early hours. I found myself intermittently woken by the howl of the wind and the rocking of the boat and drifting back off to sleep in between. By the time we got up the force 8 gale was in full swing, and it has continued all day, under a blue sky. There were huge gusts going on, which mean that we are not happy leaving the passerelle (posh word for the plank connecting us to the pontoon) out, because it gets flipped up by the wind, putting it in danger of damage. As we have a posh carbon fibre passerelle, protecting it means bring it on board and being confined to the boat. Therefore not a lot has gone on today, other than some investigation into which route we may take when we are able to depart, and I did some Spanish homework.

Flags standing to attention in the wind

There’s more work to be done in preparing, but we are waiting for parts. Even if the parts had arrived today, I doubt much could have been done while we were, and still are, swinging about in the gale.
