8 April 2023 - Lucice
It’s the start of the charter season, and, although we had leisurely start, we slipped out of the marina before any charter guests had arrived, so nice and uncomplicated. There was a nice breeze, so we had an enjoyable sail across the bay, just having to motor when we were head to wind through some of the narrow channels between the islands. It was a short hop to the island of Brac, where we planned to either pick up a mouring buoy or anchor in Uvala Lucice, a bay on the south coast of Brac. We visited this bay last year. We knew that the bay would be exposed to the south east for a while, after our arrival mid afternoon, but later the wind would drop. Whereas last year, in the season, the west part of the bay was full of mooring buoys, today, there were only a very few. We had to beware the under water lines, to which the buoys will be attached. After several attempts to pick up a buoy, we were unsuccessful in the tricky wind conditions, so we moved to the middle part of the bay, where we were able to secure the anchor without any trouble.
It is great being here out of busy season. It is so quiet. There are only a few other boats out and everywhere is really quiet. There’s also the extra bonus of not having to suffer any pesky insects.
After a tasty supper, on board, we retired to be with everything still outside.
